I celebrate myself, and sing myself, And what I assume you shall assume, For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you. I loafe and invite my soul, I lean and loafe at my ease observing a spear of summer grass. My tongue, every atom of my blood, form’d from this soil, this air, Born here of parents born here from parents the same, and their parents the same, I, now thirty-seven years old in perfect health begin, Hoping to cease not till death.
Creeds and schools in abeyance, Retiring back a while sufficed at what they are, but never forgotten, I harbor for good or bad, I permit to speak at every hazard, Nature without check with original energy. The atmosphere is not a perfume, it has no taste of the distillation, it is odorless, It is for my mouth forever, I am in love with it, I will go to the bank by the wood and become undisguised and naked, I am mad for it to be in contact with me.
Have you reckon’d a thousand acres much? Have you practis’d so long to learn to read? Have you felt so proud to get at the meaning of poems? Stop this day and night with me and you shall possess the origin of all poems, You shall possess the good of the earth and sun, there are millions of suns left, You shall no longer take things at second or third hand, nor look through the eyes of the dead, nor feed on the spectres in books, You shall not look through my eyes either, nor take things from me, You shall listen to all sides and filter them from your self.
There was never any more inception than there is now, Nor any more youth or age than there is now, And will never be any more perfection than there is now, Nor any more heaven or hell than there is now. Urge and urge and urge, Always the procreant urge of the world. Out of the dimness opposite equals advance, always substance and increase, always sex, Always a knit of identity, always distinction, always a breed of life. To elaborate is no avail, learn’d and unlearn’d feel that it is so.

The RF Hook Up from Crooked Horn Outfitters
Mike Just the Facts: Crooked Horn has created the answer to one of the most asked question by Hunters: How do I carry my rangefinder with a Bino System? We have incorporated our most popular invention, the Bino System, with the RF Hook Up strap and patented quick-release buckle that will allow you to easily attach a rangefinder to it. The RF cover secures both rangefinder and binoculars and keeps them from bouncing around and is recommended for spot and stalk hunting, riding quads and horses, or crawling into shooting range.
Where do I put my range finder?
Having dirty optics or eyeglasses won’t make locating that trophy any easier! Using your t-shirt or tissue can be abrasive to your binoculars so Crooked Horn Outfitters has introduced the Spudz Ultimate Lens Cloth. Its micro fiber cloth conveniently comes in its own stuff sack with a hook on it so you can attach it anywhere and it won’t get lost.
The rangefinder can be secured in two ways. It can be sercured to a buckle by a small lanyard that keeps it attached to the shoulder strap but allows for easy movement. There is also an elastic loop you can put around the eye cup to keep in place. I often hunt from a tree stand and like things secured so I keep it attached by the lanyard and buckle while in stand and when climbing up or down or walking in I also keep the elastic loop around it to just ensure that it stays in place.
The straps that secure the RF Shooter to you are elastic and easily adjusted. One strap goes over your right should while the other goes around your chest. After use it is easier to remove and replace. I always have my binos in my pack and only wear them in a bino harness when there is a good bit of visibility from my stand location. The RF Shooter does still work just fine when wearing my bino harness but since the Bushnell G-Force is 6X I can get away with using it alone in most stand locations where visibility is slightly limited.
Overall, this is a great product that keeps your rangefinder handy, out of the way and protected. I walked through all kinds of briars and thick stuff and the picture at the top is how it looks after, pretty much brand new.

Gear Of The Year…Hunting! Last fall I used a lot of different hunting gear, and want to share what I liked best. Hunting gear is an amazing thing—our industry is inundated with it. If I had to pick one piece of gear as the best of the best, it would be the LoopRope. If desiring a longer one, simply join them together. With the LoopRope we secured loads on wilderness horseback hunts, used it around camp, strapped animals to pack frames, tied-down coolers, propane bottles, ATVs and more.
The Bino-System from Crooked Horn Outfitters is here to the rescue. This super bino strap is ideal for hunting all day long, as well as for riding ATV’s or horses, birdwatching, and sporting events. The strap is fully adjustable and keeps binoculars secure to your chest.
Rolls batteries www. It’s not good for them to sit discharged. Proper care will significantly improve the battery life. Failure to recharge lead-acid batteries within hours is the leading cause of premature battery failure. A battery selector switch as applied in a bay or flats boat is a VERY useful tool that assures redundancy as well as “peace of mind” for the vessel’s owner. A high quality battery selector switch should have a sufficient capacity power rating to safely handle the 12vdc electrical power required.
This switch MUST also have “bridged” internally sealed contacts allowing it to safely be switched from one battery to both batteries then to the second battery without any interruption of supplied 12vdc power. The Blue Sea brand is my favorite based on personal experience. Quest and Cole Hersee also offer quality selector switches. This set up utilizes both a 12 vdc system for general cranking and accessory use as well as a 24 vdc system for the 80 Minn Kota trolling motor.
This is a VERY efficient system.

Save Lennis Janzen and Crooked Horn Outfitters have become a long standing staple and a brand name used by hunters and outdoor enthusiasts around the world. Crooked Horn Outfitters, which will celebrate its 25th year in business early in , is as American as apple pie. Founded by a Kern County native and long-time Tehachapi resident Lennis Janzen, Crooked Horn is more than a business, it is a passion for adventure, hunting and the outdoor life.
Janzen grew up on the Tejon Ranch where his father was a cattle foreman for 40 years. From the age of six, young Lennis learned how to work cattle on horseback and by the age of 12 learned how to do most of the jobs on the ranch but hunting became his number one passion. Lennis attended high school and began his higher education at Bakersfield College and went on to Chico State, where he majored in Forestry.
